H-II: Appeal to International Association of University Presidents - 70 Professors Arrested in Iran

Having included the International Studies Association, with UNESCO level academic discussions associated with recent human rights violations in the country of Iran, it was disturbing to hear that 70 University professors were arrested (Iran opposition leader blasts rulers; 70 professors arrested, LA Times, 25 June 2009). The International Association of University Presidents is being asked to join leaders in every United Nations member country who are calling for the immediate release of the professors, journalists and  pro-reform protesters.

Human Rights Attorney, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Shirin Ebadi, has called for the results of the recent election to be annulled and will legally represent the family of a young woman shot dead during a protest in Tehran (Iran's Neda killing 'was illegal': Al Jazeera News, 24 June 2009)

Nobel Peace Prize winner, Shirin Ebadi stirred up an emotional crowd of Iranians in front of the European Parliament in Brussels on Wednesday.
